What the two steps are doing
The first step is usually an oil cleanser or balm that breaks up makeup and sunscreen. The second is a water-based cleanser. Together, they offer gentle, thorough removal.
The combination I use at night
I use the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil followed by the Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam. This is my nighttime combination for removing the sunscreen I wear every day and any makeup I’ve worn over it.
Because my oily combination skin can also become dehydrated, I care just as much about how my face feels after cleansing as I do about removing everything thoroughly.
Some nights one cleanser is enough
When I’ve worn very little, one gentle wash may leave my skin clean and comfortable. Clean, comfortable skin is the result I’m after.
Comfort is useful information
Skincare advice can become strangely rigid. I prefer to pay attention to what I wore that day, how my skin feels and what the products themselves instruct.
