Tape it out before you buy
The screened porch at Dragonfly Cottage is one of the spaces I want people to enjoy. Before adding furniture, I would mark the dimensions on the floor and open the door. If someone carrying bags has to turn sideways, the chair is too deep.
Comfort starts with the measurements
Seat depth, height and the angle of the back matter. A compact chair can still feel awkward, so I pay close attention to measurements and comments about comfort.
One useful table is enough
A place for a drink, book or keys can add more value than squeezing in another chair. I want a porch to feel easy and open.
