I check dimensions, clearances, connections and installation requirements before getting carried away by the finish. A product with wonderful reviews is still wrong if it creates a new problem in the room.

I want proof of the job it does

I trust specific measurements such as airflow, storage capacity, cleanability and stability. I look for something I can explain and eventually observe for myself.

The drawbacks belong in the story

Every choice has a tradeoff—price, maintenance, noise, installation or appearance. If I recommend something here, I want to say who it’s good for and who may be happier with something else.
